Phlebotomy Technician
This is a 4 week class designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become an entry level Phlebotomy Technician. In this class you will learn how to perform venipuncture (draw blood) and capillary sticks (finger sticks) and how to obtain specimens.
During weeks 1-3 students will complete assignments at home and come for in-person, hands-on lab every Thursday 8:30am-12:30pm. During week 4 students will come for in-person, hands-on lab Mon-Thurs 8:30am-12:30pm. Students will be required to participate in drawing blood on each other in order to provide our students with exceptional hands-on training.
Phlebotomy Technicians (may also be called Phlebotomists) are medical professionals trained to draw blood using venipuncture. Phlebotomy Technicians are important members of the health care team and often need to explain the blood-drawing procedure and put patients at ease.
The cost for this class is $950. A payment plan can be arranged with $310 down payment (includes the $150 non-refundable registration application fee) and $160 weekly payments. The down payment reserves your seat in the class.
Admission requirements:
All applicants must be at least 18 years of age and
able to speak, read, write and understand English
1. US Government issued photo identification (ie. driver’s license)
2. Social security card
3. Negative TB skin test or Chest X-ray
4. High School Diploma or GED
5. The payment of registration fee and arrangements to pay program cost.
6. Signed registration application and signed enrollment documents.
7. Negative Drug screen
Students who successfully complete the Phlebotomy Technician class at Georgia Training Center will be awarded a Certificate of Completion. Upon successful completion of program requirements, students are prepared for national exam for Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) with National Healthcareer Association (nhanow.com). All students are responsible for the cost of national testing after successfully completing the class.
This program is an approved program under The Georgia Non-public Postsecondary Education Commission (GNPEC).
